This morning, Friday 22nd July 2016, we celebrated the closing ceremony of the II promotion of the course “Maintenance of parks and gardens”, organized by la Fundación Esperanza y Alegría in accordance with la Asociación de Vecino del Pozo and with the support of Bankia y Fundación Montemadrid.

The project is made up of young people aged 26 to 30 years from the neighborhood The Well of Uncle Raymond (district of Puente de Vallecas, Madrid) through the implementation of training workshops. Through training about the craft of gardening, we hope that these young people will not only acquire theoretical and practical skills of the profession, but also that the project will help to ensure that they do not fall into social exclusion and marginalization. For this, the training is completed with talks and tasks about personal and social skills which facilitate access to a job and integration into society. In addition, the young people receive school support in order to achieve the E.S.O certificate.

It is a region hard hit by the economic crisis, which according to Madrid City Council, has one of the highest levels of unemployment. This project responds to a need identified by the Association of Neighbors of the Well, which since opening has worked alongside la Fundación Esperanza y Alegría, uniting forces, in order to offer an opportunity for the future of these young people.
